Many people dream of scuba diving but really don't have any idea of what that means other than they get to swim under water with gear that allows them to breath. For those who don't know, SCUBA is an acronym for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. Even though it may seem easy and it certainly looks easy, there are many very dangerous aspects to scuba diving that you must know before you go for a dive. That is why it is imperative that you get certified by a qualified instructor before going for your first dive. Some all inclusive beach resorts in the Caribbean offer scuba diving lessons as part of their package. This instruction includes all of the basics on equipment use and safety including what is explained below.
There are a number of ways to use a scuba apparatus but the most common is having a cylinder of compressed air or a combination of gases that you breathe into your lungs through a mouthpiece called a regulator. Your nose is covered with your mask so you don't try to breathe through your nose. Some fancier masks that you can get are actually full face and you are not limited to having a mouthpiece. With these full face masks you can breathe normally whether through your mouth or your nose. One thing you must be confident before diving anywhere in the world is that the air or gases in your tank are clean and will not make you sick. This is normally not an issue in popular diving sites such as the Caribbean.
Some of the other equipment you will learn about when taking dive lessons either before you leave for vacation or during your all inclusive Caribbean vacation includes your buoyancy devices. You may be thinking why do I need a buoyancy device if I'm going to be underwater? Buoyancy devices help you maintain floating at a certain level without having to fight either dropping down or floating up. The combination of using weights and air in your buoyancy device will allow you to float effortlessly.
If you are thinking about scuba diving during family vacations you may want to include your children. Your children can start as early as eight years old under shallow water conditions. At ten years old they can be certified as Junior Open Water Divers and at fifteen they can be certified as Open Water Divers. Other family members such as grandparents can also be included because there is no upper age limit. No matter what your reason for diving it is an experience that is unexplainable. You may want to see the beauty of the reefs and other magnificent areas in the oceans or you may want to have the excitement of exploring caves and shipwrecks.
Whether you do it with strangers or with your loved ones at all inclusive beach resorts, it is a wonderful experience when you have been trained to be safe. You can get your training before you embark on your journey to the ocean or you can get it at an all inclusive Caribbean vacation resort while you are there. Majesty of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

This ship had its maiden voyage on April 26, 1992 and has since had two renovations. The first renovation was in May 2003 where it was outfitted with an alternative evening dining option, a rock climbing wall, and an Internet center. And in 2007, the pool deck was remodeled, the Spa & Fitness Center facilities were expanded, and the staterooms received luxurious bedding and flat-screen televisions.
Once considered a large ship, it is now small in comparison to other cruise ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet. With a passenger capacity of 2,744, it is primarily used for short trips to the Bahamas and Keywest. Also on board is a Johnny Rockets '50s-style restaurant, Sorrento's Pizza, Latté-tudesSM coffee house featuring Seattle's Best Coffee®, Casino RoyaleSM, themed bars and lounges including Boleros Latin lounge, 2 whirlpools, 2 outdoor pools, Adventure Ocean® youth facilities, and an open-air basketball court.
For those new to cruising, or just looking for a short get away, the Majesty of the Seas is a perfect choice for the whole family. While you will see people of all ages, the typical demographics includes couples on a honeymoon, celebrating anniversaries, or just getting away from their kids for a few days.
The entertainment on board is average and as expected for a cruise, featuring belly flop contests, comedians, and Las Vegas style shows, just to name a few. For the number of people year around, the ship is surprising clean. The service is great and staff works hard to keep everyone happy. And lastly, even the pickiest eater will find something that will satisfy their appetite.

It's Still Safe To Vacation In The Caribbean

Following the recent killing of the British honeymoon couple on the Caribbean island of Antigua many are now questioning how safe these idyllic paradise-like islands are for the millions of visitors who choose to holiday there each year. With many newspapers reporting on this horrific event it is no surprise that many subsequent articles have chosen not only to concentrate on the facts surrounding the case, but also to focus on the "perceived problem" of crime permeating not just Antigua but other islands throughout the Caribbean. But is this popular region of the world really as unsafe as recent media reports have indicated?
The simple answer is "no". Of course the Caribbean is not a crime free destination. Like anywhere else in the world all the islands of the Caribbean experience varying degrees of mainly petty crime, such as theft. Whilst some of the larger islands such as Jamaica and Trinidad might also experience more serious and violent crime such as rape or murder, these crimes are nearly always perpetrated by locals against locals and hardly ever visitors, and these crimes are still relatively rare in comparison to many of the countries where tourists to these islands actually come from. This is why the recent murder of the honeymoon couple in Antigua made such major headlines, as it really was a rare and isolated incident. In fact the last tourist homicide on Antigua took place over ten years ago.
Nearly 97,000 tourists from the UK alone visited the island of Antigua in 2007 and most of these visitors will no doubt confirm that during their stay they experienced nothing but a warm climate, beautiful beaches and friendly hospitality from the majority of local people. The island has so much to offer visitors and is one of the Caribbean's most popular tourist islands. For the last two years Antigua has also won awards as best wedding and honeymoon destination because of its appeal to couples looking for an exotic and beautiful destination for their wedding or honeymoon.
It is also a much cheaper holiday destination now due to the strength of the pound against the US dollar in comparison to the Euro. Many hotels and resorts also offer free weddings for couples staying for a specified minimum duration or for couples who wish to book additional rooms for their guests. One of the best destination for Caribbean holiday is The Inn at English Harbour.
Getting married on the island of Antigua could not be easier. Couples are able to get married on the same day they arrive on the island if they wish once they purchase a local licence from the correct Government office. All weddings conducted at local hotels, resorts or other not religious venues such as on one of the island's 365 beautiful beaches, are civil ceremonies conducted by a marriage officer. Couples can also get married in one of the island's many churches. Weddings conducted on Antigua, as well as all the other islands of the Caribbean are legally recognised in the UK.
Couples who had previously considered or even planned to visit the Caribbean and particularly the island of Antigua for an annual holiday or for their wedding or honeymoon should not be put off by recent events. Compared to many destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean and other parts of the world which are popular holiday spots for the Brits, the Caribbean is still a much safer destination. and Jolly Beach Resort is example of hotels which offer this.
